During a visit to India, from April 27 to May 1, officials from the City of Toronto and Invest Toronto networked with Indian businesses ranging from large multinationals to start-ups and entrepreneurs in sectors including software, media, building products and food and beverages. In meetings in Bengaluru, Mumbai and New Delhi, the delegation highlighted Toronto’s strengths as a trade and investment partner, especially as a launch pad for expanding in North America.
The delegation participated in roundtables with member companies of the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), the Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry and the Indo-Canadian Business Chamber. The delegation also discussed supportive ecosystem opportunities with technology start-ups at the Zone Startups incubator. As a result of the successful visit, a number of Indian firms plan to visit Toronto over the next few months.
